Oregano
It is a perennial, hairy to woolly herb 20 to 60 cm tall. It has a reddish, square, hairy stem and a woody, protruding rhizome. The leaves are ovate, short-petiolate, opposite, entire or indistinctly serrated. The lower leaves are the largest and decrease in size towards the top. Tiny purple flowers, clustered in heads, terminate the branches of the panicle. The flowers grow in the axils of elliptical or oval bracts, which are purple at the tip. The calyx is tubular-bell-shaped, five-toothed, and the corolla is shortly two-lipped. The fruits are achenes. The whole plant has a pleasant aromatic scent. It blooms in July and August.
Oregano is better known as an excellent spice for soups and sauces. It is available in stores under the name OREGANO, but it is imported from southern Europe. It has disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effects, facilitates coughing, and increases bile secretion. The drug is a powerful agent that relaxes spasmodic smooth muscle contractions (spasmolytic).
The package contains 1200 seeds.
