Rose of Jericho - whole plant
The rose of Jericho is also known as the "flower of resurrection" or the hands of the Virgin Mary. It grows in the deserts of Egypt, Syria, Arabia, and Mexico, where the wind blows it to a moist place where it takes root, unfolds, and releases its seeds. When it dries out, the rose curls up into a ball and travels on.
The rose is often used in voodoo rituals and in the Cuban cult of Santería to attract love, luck, and money. It is said to absorb negative energy.
Most often, we see roses as decorations during the Christmas holidays. They have held a place of honor here for hundreds of years. However, roses are used more for their symbolism of rebirth, i.e., the reunification of the family at the Christmas table. Of course, their use at Christmas is not a requirement. They can also serve as decorations throughout the year.
Legend:
According to legend, the rose is named after a crow. One day, crusaders found a rose near the Old Testament city of Jericho that had grown from the root of a rose that once adorned the Garden of Eden. The Virgin Mary is said to have dried the diapers of the baby Jesus on the daughter of the paradise rose bush during their flight to Egypt. The knights dug up the plant and brought it to Europe with the greatest honors.
Effects:
When the Rose of Jericho opens, it perfumes and purifies the air throughout the home, creating a pleasant aroma for breathing. According to some, this scent can help with respiratory problems.
Use:
Immerse the rose bud in water in a bowl or on a plate for several hours. It doesn't take much for the rose to come to life. After about 24 hours, the rose will open and create a spicy aroma that is pleasant to breathe. It is necessary for the plant to be in water only up to its roots. After 4-8 days, let it dry out again and you can store it until the next bloom.
You can repeat this process countless times.
